COVID-19 TESTING UPDATE

For the Coastal Bend Residents Community

(Corpus Christi, Texas, June 22, 2020) – Physicians Premier Emergency Rooms announce that due to an influx in demand for COVID-19 testing, it is urging the community to follow this updated COVID-19 testing recommendation.

Physicians Premier Emergency Rooms in the Coastal Bend tested 2,100 patients week June 14 – June 21, and of these, 10% have been identified as COVID-19 probable cases per Department of Texas Health Services guidelines. These cases are reported to state and county officials daily.

COVID-19 TESTING UPDATE

1. Wait at least 4 days from date of suspected exposure before testing for a more accurate diagnosis.

2. If you have NO symptoms, be prepared for long wait times. Physicians Premier Emergency Rooms must prioritize patient needs. If a patient is in acute distress, we must treat them first.  

3. Please limit phone time with our emergency rooms. The phone lines are needed to communicate with other health care providers and physicians, and to provide patient test results as quickly as possible. 

Physicians Premier is currently recognized to accept Medicare patients during this time and until further notice, providing our Medicare patients with access to closest and most immediate care available.
